Did you know that Traverse City is named the Cherry Capital of the world? The National Cherry festival is the crowning jewel of festivals in our area. This festival is run by local volunteers and as many as half a million people come to town to celebrate. It is on my birthday so I have many memories of birthday celebrations at the Cherry festival volunteering and having fun.
